MOTHERHOOD THE MUSICAL

The good, the bad… and the laundry. From the producers of the amazing Menopause The Musical comes an equally hilarious musical journey about the lives and friendships of four very different mums.

Motherhood The Musical is a hilarious, musical journey about the lives of four mums. There’s Barb, an over-worked, underpaid, stressed-out mother of five; Brooke, the lawyer, who works too much and barely sees her kids, Trisha, a single mum struggling to balance work, her family and her divorce and finally Amy, the naive young woman about to have her first child. As the three friends throw Amy a baby shower, the truth about motherhood (the good, the bad and the ugly) all come out into the open: the nappies, the dirty laundry, the lazy husbands, juggling the demands of children and a career and everything in between.

Having received rave reviews during its 45 week 2011 Australian tour, this musical written by award-winning singer/songwriter Sue Fabisch, features 20 sensational songs including her Top 10 Billboard Comedy Hit “The Kids Are Finally Asleep”. You’ll love this joyous musical journey as it takes a look at the blessings and the perils of being a Mum. This is all about laughing and crying, craziness and calm, smiles and tears, all wrapped up into 90 minutes of great musical entertainment.

Brought to you by the Australian Producer of the smash hitMenopause The Musical®, Motherhood The Musical will travel nationally for another 25 weeks in 2012 to capital city, metropolitan and regional theatre venues throughout Australia.

“This is one of the most amusing musicals I have been to in a long time. It is a wonderful production with a colourful set, the acting and singing was flawless. I highly recommend any woman to go and see it. You will want to ring you mum to say I love you by the end!” What’s on Sydney

“Motherhood The Musical has it all. If you saw the funny side of the change of life in Menopause The Musical®, then this show is for you.” Sydney Morning Herald

“…the whole show is incredibly funny and brilliantly performed by four very talented women. If it is the only one you see this year, you won’t be sorry.” Absolute Theatre

MATT ZARB BIO

Writing a biography is sometimes hard when you are trying to describe a lifetime of music and performances in a few paragraphs, but here is a few to give you some idea of Matt’s career to date.

Matt lives and tours out of Crowdy Head N.S.W but his musical life has taken him from the west of Sydney to countless cities and towns all over the world. Matt’s unique style of guitar playing and songwriting has landed him on stages with everyone from Tommy Emmanuel to Willie Nelson and many more.

Matt recently spent three and a half years living in Kentucky in the United States. During that time he performed at many festivals and events across the country from Nashville to LA performing on the college circuit, countless radio and TV shows with his younger brother Pauly.

Matt’s major achievement during his time in the States was performances on the now world renowned “Acoustic Guitar Masters” series of concerts in Kentucky. This concert series features the world’s finest acoustic guitarists from all over the world our own Tommy Emmanuel being the biggest name on the series but it has a long list of well known artists to step the stage.

A Matt Zarb performance is full of exciting kicking, stomping, guitar, harmonica, mandolin playing and songs of his life and times. His honesty in writing his songs leave you feeling you can relate to the real life issues that come up in his lyrics and storytelling. If he sings or plays a song or instrumental he has not written be sure it will have a flavor only he can stamp on it for example his version of “The Devil Went Down To Krambach/Georgia” or the famous Mason Williams ‘‘Classical Gas”.

You can view these versions via You Tube on the front page of his website. These versions of songs and instrumentals have a self titled style “The Barefoot Bushbilly Bastard Version”. Matt never performs with shoes and stomps on his ten and a half year old home made stomp box and plays all his music live with no safety net.
Matt just loves to play guitar and sing, from his kitchen to the Manly Ferry to a huge festival stage it makes no difference to him it’s all about the music.

Matt’s latest recording “Rose Matilda” is a compilation of three different projects and will give you a broad overview of his songwriting, musicianship and arranging. ‘’Rose Matilda’’ is a song about his grandmother and grandfather and is getting airplay all over the Australia on country music stations. From the funky “What do you think about that” to the beautiful ‘’Saturday Night In The Hall” the recording is a great example of his live show in that it will take you on a journey as colorful as his life has been to date. Matt has a great fan base all over Australia and is a sure bet on any festival stage.

Matt recently been playing with a all female line up called the “Hussy Hicks” Julz Parker, Leesa Gentz and Tracy Stephens as well as a young lady by the name of Minnie Marks…Matt said ”not only are they my favourite musicians but they are my favourite people as well”. Catch them all playing music up and down the coast!

Big River Dreaming, the musical, to feature as a Gwydir wide celebration

Bingara Advocate 12-Mar-12

The 150th Anniversary of public education in Bingara in 2012, will provide the backdrop for an original musical involving students and staff from Bingara Central School, Warialda High School and the wider Gwydir community, along with the North West Theatre Company and Bingara Pre School.

The musical, Big River Dreaming, has been composed by Rick Hutton and arranged by Daniel “Muz” Murray from Newcastle University. The Producer of the show is Jon Alliston, with Musical Director Robyn Conway and Director, Rick Hutton.

“This is an exciting venture for our school and community,” said BCS Principal Mark Vale. “After the success of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2010, our school is once again keen and delighted to engage in a major musical production, especially one which tells a story of our school and town. To do it in this sesqui-centenary anniversary year is a real treat which I think our students, staff and parents will greatly enjoy.”

The president of the NWTC and former Mayor of Bingara Shire, John Wearne AM, said, “Big River Dreaming is a community showcase. From our pre-history to the present day and involving our current littlies to our seniors, there will be wonderful stories and songs to enjoy in this August production.”

Composer and Director Rick Hutton said, “The Gwydir Shire is full of great tales, landscapes, and characters that make wonderful subjects for songs and dances. The task in Big River Dreaming is to blend all of these together in an entertainment that will delight and capture the imagination of performers, helpers and audiences.” He said.

Casting for Big River Dreaming has been completed and the announcements made at the schools this week. There will be six performances, all at the Roxy Theatre between August 9 and 19. Tickets will be available from early May.

On Tuesday 29th November $60,000 worth of etched glass signage was erected on the Roxy Cafe frontage at Bingara. There are only 3 other examples of this type of signage in New South Wales. That is why the Heritage Branch of the Department of Planning, NSW provided a $30,000 grant for this project. This funding was supplemented by a grant of $30,000 from Gwydir Shire Council.

From WIKI The structure of Art Deco is based on mathematical geometric shapes. It was widely considered to be an eclectic form of elegant and stylish modernism, being influenced by a variety of sources. The ability to travel and archaeological excavations during the first decades of the twentieth century, influenced artists and designers, integrating several elements from countries not their own. Among them were historical styles such as Greco-Roman Classicism, as well as the art of Babylon, Assyria, Ancient Egypt, Aztec Mexico, and Africa.Much of this could be attributed to the popular interest in archaeology during the 1920s (e.g., the tomb of Tutankhamun, Pompeii, Troy, etc.).

Art Deco also used Machine Age and streamline technologies such as modern aviation, electric lighting, radio, ocean liners and skyscrapers for inspiration. Streamline Moderne was the final interwar-period development, which most thoroughly manifests technology and has been rated by some commentators as a separate architectural style.Art-deco design influences were expressed in the crystalline and faceted forms of decorative Cubism and Futurism.

Other popular themes of Art Deco were trapezoidal, zigzagged, geometric, and jumbled shapes, which can be seen in many early works. The Peters and Co, Roxy Cafe, Bingara sign, features exquisitely designed geometric art work in the Art Deco style Restoration of the Roxy Cafe signageIt was to be restored glass paneling returning to grace the windows of the Roxy Cafe, but as the old glass was beyond restoration, the windows of the Roxy (Peters) Café now have a faithful reproduction of the original glass.

The work was done by Harradence Glass Decorators, a project Michael Harrington and his team approached with relish. After ascertaining the original colours used, the team then set about making an exact replica of the glass etching. The old glass has been put into metal frames, and will become part of the display on a wall in the Roxy Museum. The Etched Glass Conservation Project was carried out with major funding support by the NSW Government office of Environment and Heritage, and Gwydir Shire Council.
